Acrylic and Oil on Paper, 2020-22
Extracts is an ongoing body of work made alongside more ‘formal’ oil paintings of friends, family and places I have visited.
These pieces are created out of the moments in between—cleaning brushes, wiping excess paint— as an unexpected starting point for new work. Each piece captures the unconscious marks and fluid gestures that emerge during the painting process, often revealing more energy and honesty than the finished works they accompany.
These works sit somewhere between documentation and abstraction. Created instinctively and without intention, they offer a record of movement, colour mixing, and material play.
